Lorick Love

So its been confirmed that Abigail Lorick, who's designs we all know and love from Gossip Girl, will be holding her first ever show at Fashion Week September 4th. What can we expect from Ms Lorick? Hopefully clothes as dazzling as the ones Blair Waldorf so elegantly wears each week on GG. What to expect at the show? Hmm, maybe Leighton Meester walking the runway? Let's hope!

What do you think of these from the 2008 fall line?

I'm in love again

There's something about a Diane Von Furstenberg dress that is the perfect mix of elegance and chic. I recently purchased one myself, and I must say, it was money extremely well spent. What do you think of these...?

....I personally love this color combination. I think the style of the dress would be flattering on multiple body types.

....This is my personal favorite of the three. In person, this dress is quite the head-turner.

....I love the accent pattern around the v-neck.

Elegance & chic? ...Sounds like quite the combination to me!

America the Beautiful

I know I've been terrible with posting lately, but I really have had NO time, nor have I been by a computer much at all. Last Thursday after class, I went to meet my editor Ariston over at Dosomething. I can't even tell you the feeling that ran through me as I rode the elevator, anticipating the bustling office full of young, hip editors bouncing about. To my delight, It was exactly what I expected! Ariston, (who is amazing), sat down to talk with me for a bit, and we must have hit it off, because she asked me to go along with the other two interns to the premiere of America the Beautiful, a documentary by Daryl Roberts. The theme of the movie raises the question: is america OBSESSED with looks? Needless to say, it was an AMAZING documentary, and the other intern (who happens to be in my NYU Women in the Media class), and I were thrilled with how perfectly the film related to everything our class has taught us. We got to interview Kirsten Haglund, who is Miss America 2008, and Daryl Roberts (who made the documentary). It was an amazing time and still can't believe that I was asked to go on my first day. Looks like the fun has just begun for this Class Act girl.

...In the meantime, what do you think: is America obsessed with looks?

Do Something!

So after my NYU class today, I found out that tomorrow I'm going to meet my new editor Ariston over at dosomething.org ... I can't even begin to tell you how excited/nervous I'm going to be when I arrive outside the building in Union Square. At dosomething.org, I'll be writing for Ariston's part of the website called Celebs Gone Good. The idea of CGG is to forget about nasty celebrity gossip and focus on what they are actually DOING...(for once).
Check it out at http://dosomething.org/celebsgonegood

Now, the question is...what to wear!? The catch phrase for the website is "it's not what you're wearing it's what you're doing," but hey, it never hurt anyone to look cute for the first day, right? One thing's for sure; I'll be keeping it classy.

I want it, I'll have it

...Wouldn't it be nice? Well if the real Kelly is a bit steep for your price range, then have no fear! Hermes has a downloadable version of the Kelly that you can make right in your own home. No, that was not a typo, you CAN make it! I nearly died when i saw the downloadable version...beyond adorable! While I haven't actually tried the print-out version yet myself, I'm definitely going to try it out even though I'm the worst at following written directions! As always, Hermes keeps it classy.

Keep It Glowing

Last summer when I took my first NYU class, I began to explore Soho with my mom. One day during class, my shop-savvy mom made her best Soho discovery yet; Sabon. Located on Prince Street, it quickly grew to be one of our favorite little stores. For all of you who haven't been fortunate enough to have what I like to call the "Sabon experience," I'll try my best to describe. When you walk into the Prince Street location you are instantly greeted by young bustling sales people who wisk you over to a quaint old stone fountain. There you are asked to choose a scent you prefer (all different scrubs are set up around the perimeter of the fountain for you to choose from). After you choose a scent of your preferance, a blob is placed into your hands and you are told to scub for about a minute. After the minute is up you press a petal with your feet and water begins to pour out of the old copper spicket connected to the fountain. After you rinse, you are left with renewed, baby soft hands.

Of course everytime I walk into the Sabon on Prince Street, I have no qualms about trying a new scent. My personal favorite, Vanilla Coconut, is a perfect light scent for summer that leaves me with a healthy, natural glow everytime I use it. The body scrub is even safe on sensitive skin, (I would know because if its safe for me then ANYONE can use it!)
...Kudos to you Sabon!
